Lola Gil is an American painter, ( b.1975 ) in Riverside CA. She is a self-taught artist who began painting early in life therapeutically, working daily and building towards the strong work ethic she upholds today. Lola, who categorizes herself as "especially introverted", believes that painting chose her and became her visual voice from early on. Lola's works focus on both figurative, as well as narrative imagery, within a surrealistic landscape. Curious compositions reveal themselves to the artist through a process of subconscious imagery, which flashes in moments of quick clarity. Undertones of nostalgia woven around connection, relationships, and the human psyche are a central theme within her practice, offering viewers a perplexing feeling of familiarity within an unfamiliar space. Her palette plays the silent character which represents the emotional aspect of each work.
